Would anyone interested please contact either Jane Stewart 833261 or Clare Gilbert 833238 and let us know what your exercise preference would be and we will go with the majority. To enable us to get things organised we would appreciate a reply as soon as possible - next week would be good!

Other Matters.

Interruption of Power Supplies.

These are an inconvenience for everyone and whilst we can all take certain steps to mitigate the effects of them those primarily at risk are the elderly, and in particular people living alone.
We are a relatively small and caring community and it is hoped that any potentially vulnerable individuals would have nearby family, friends or neighbours who would come to their assistance. If you are one of these individuals but have no such help, or perhaps more importantly, you know of someone who might require some assistance, perhaps you could offer help. A useful point of contact could also be your Community Council Members who are fully listed on this site. Constable David Paterson has also kindly confirmed that the police would be happy to help anyone needing urgent assistance, Tel: 01866 822222 or 01631 510500.

Kilchrenan Village Hall 50/50 Draw.

The cost is still only £12.00 for the year and you can join any time by paying a proportion of this sum for the remaining months. The year runs from March to February. You can have more than one number and you do not need to be a resident in the area to join.
Payment can be made by cheque (payable to Kilchrenan Hall 50/50 A/c) or cash, and handed or posted to any member of the Hall Council. Collection can also be arranged.
The draw takes place monthly in the Kilchrenan Inn. The first prize is £30.00, second prize £20.00 and third prize £10.00.
Your contacts are Mike and Anne Urwin on 01866 833341, or any member of the Hall Council.

November Prize Winners:- 1st Karina Georgian £30. 2nd Dave & Jan Musson £20. 3rd Jackie McBride £10.

There will be 4 prizes in December of £40, £30, £20 and £10.

Time Bankers!
Just a quick update re the Time Banking.

So far there are 20 individuals and 3 organisations signed up to Timebanking in Oban and the surrounding area. The matches are
slowly coming together. If anyone has done some hours let me know and I will add it to your tally.
So far individuals have car shared, visited leisure centres as buddies, surfed the web for information, delivered leaflets, baked, and did a spot
of childminding.

More opportunities are coming up in the near future for anyone to get involved in. Just let me know if you are interested in anything or have
any ideas.

" LORN" - Local Origins Rural Network has local producers markets twice a month at Benderloch and I have been asked along to do a stall. Any volunteers that fancy a day out to take pictures, general help in handing out leaflets etc let me know. The first one is a look see on July 2nd, the next one is the big one the 'summer fair' July 16th I will definitely need help there!

" DIG " - Dalavich Improvement Group is having a Green Day/Happy Day on Sunday July 12th. Volunteers are also needed for this, to do displays, leaflet drops and information gathering, or even run a stall. Again anyone interested please let me know.

Bye for now

Photos from the Hope Foundation Celidh on 3rd April...
Ceilidh   Ceilidh
We held a Ceilidh on The 3rd April at Kilchrenan Hall and raised £690 for The Hope Foundation. Thank you to everyone who came along to support us, it was an extremely enjoyable evening with much merriment and dancing!

Kimberley Soep and Rebecca Roberts, recent graduates from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, are currently raising funds for their voluntary arts and drama project for The Hope Foundation in Calcutta. The Hope Foundation for Street Children is the newly UK registered branch of the well established charity called The Hope Foundation, which was founded in Ireland and Calcutta ten years ago by Maureen Forrest. Hope's mission is to provide sustainable development for severely underprivileged and vulnerable children, many of whom live on the streets or in one of the thousands of slums in Calcutta. Kimberley and Rebecca will be devising and delivering drama and arts workshops for many of the young people in and out of the slums with a view to set up permanent projects which can be continued by staff and future volunteers. They have so far generated a staggering £2000 with monies raised from a Ceilidh in Kilchrenan 3rd April and a sponsored climb up Ben Cruachan 6th April. If you would like to support their efforts, any contribution would be gratefully appreciated. All proceeds go directly to helping the young people of Calcutta. www.justgiving.co.uk/rebeccaroberts8

Community Web-site.
It is intended to introduce a section to be called Family Notices/Where are they now?. As the name implies anyone wishing to place a notice relating to one of their family’s achievements of any type, academic or otherwise, might wish to make an announcement (with or without photograph) similar to those often seen in the newspapers. The section could also embrace locals who have moved away from the area to a new life or made an interesting career change, or, career advance. It could also refer to an interesting or light-hearted incident.
This section may be of particular relevance to former pupils of Dalavich or Kilchrenan Schools.
Anyone wishing to contribute please contact Peter Carruthers at pandpcarruthers@btinternet.com or hand it into the school.

Items for sale or required.

If you live within the community and have anything you wish to dispose of (legally!) or acquire this section may be of help. Prepare a brief description of the item, with or without a photo, and submit it to items@avich-kilchrenan.co.uk
There is no charge but it is hoped that successful vendors/purchasers might make a small donation towards running costs, at their discretion. Swaps can also be included, but to be restricted to inanimate objects please! You may even wish to give something away you no longer need to a good home. Find a place for your old banger!
Items will be deleted after a month or so unless instructions are received to the contrary to retain the item on the page although it is hoped that individuals will report as soon as an item is no longer available, or required.
